Dear CWC Friends,

Our Kickoff Luncheon at Limani on October 17th was a great success! While I was unable to join you that day, I was thrilled to hear how much everyone enjoyed themselves. I am especially grateful to Jennifer Ziza, the planning committee, and the many Club and Philanthropy leaders who greeted members and shared information about all the activities and volunteer opportunities. The excitement and energy you brought to this event will carry us into a fantastic year together!

Now that fall is in full swing, our clubs and philanthropic efforts are buzzing with activity. I’ve been delighted by the terrific attendance at our September gatherings, and I encourage you to try something new this month. Maybe join a club you haven’t experienced before—you might just discover a new favorite! Don’t forget to check out our newest offerings: Samba (card game), Ladies Night, the refreshed Culinary Club (back from “pause”), Art/History/Culture, and Travel. And with the addition of a second monthly Simply Social, there’s even more opportunity to connect.

Our philanthropic endeavors are also off to a strong start. It was inspiring to attend the September Philanthropy meeting and see so many of you there. Your dedication to supporting women and children in need across Charlotte is truly the heart of CWC. Thanks to your feedback from our May survey, we’ve scheduled even more philanthropy opportunities this year—so I encourage you to join in on one of the meaningful events happening in October.

To our new members - - - welcome! We’re so glad you’re here. I look forward to hosting you at the New Member Welcome Coffee at my home on October 17th. It will be a relaxed chance to meet fellow newcomers, connect with Board members, and learn more about the many ways to get involved.

Lastly, thank you to everyone who shared your thoughts in our recent newsletter survey. Your input is invaluable as we consider frequency, length, and content. While the Board continues to review the results, this edition will be a bit shorter than usual. Stay tuned for the November newsletter, where we’ll share what we’ve learned and how we’re responding to your feedback.

I can’t wait to see many of you at upcoming club events. Until then, thank you for the energy, warmth, and spirit you bring to CWC—you are what makes this community so special.

Warmly,

Laurey

Volunteer Events & Happenings in Philanthropy

Bright Blessings

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Bright Blessings in September!  We did everything from wrapping Birthday presents for children who otherwise would not receive a gift to organizing toiletries for homeless shelters -  all while enjoying one another!  Join us Tuesday, November 4th for our next volunteer time at Bright Blessings!
Questions? Contact Gayle McKearin or Beth Daniels.

Pink Bow Campaigne

Please join us Thursday, October 9th  at our Philanthropy gathering (12:30-1:30pm) , where our special guest at this meeting will be CWC’s own Robin Saddler, Founder and President of the Pink Bow Campaign. Robin will share with us for 15-20 minutes, and then Robin and Cathy Kane will lead us in a hands-on project for the Campaign.  Last year we made pink bows, and also added words of encouragement to pink bow wreaths for women in the hospital.  It felt unbelievably good to know that our small projects would be in a hospitalized woman’s hands by that afternoon.  Feel free to bring a friend, and please sign up online.  See you then!

CLASSROOM CENTRAL

Want to help teachers in Charlotte and beyond?

Then join us at our Tuesday, October 14th Classroom Central volunteer morning.  We will organize much needed supplies for our educators, and “turn pencils into possibilities” for our local school children.

Sign up on the website.  Contact Barbara Hambacher with any questions.

Promising Pages

CHILDREN & BOOKS - A PERFECT MATCH!

Join with us at Promising Pages in providing children’s books to underserved communities, and help our children discover the magic of reading.

By simply cleaning used books (some of which may have been an old favorite of yours!), we can make a real difference.
Our next volunteer morning will be Thursday, October 16th from 10am to 12noon.

Register online. Questions? Contact Ceci Robinson or Dorinda Jenkins.  And a HUGE thank you to everyone who participated in our summer Promising Pages drive. We collected over 300 children’s books! THANK YOU CWC!

We care about our CWC members.

If you know of a member in need of sympathy e-card or a get well e-card, or even a "we are thinking of you" e-card, let Donda Thomasson know at CWCWelcomecommittee@gmail.com.

Donda sends out birthday e-cards and membership anniversary e-cards, too.

About 10% of members don't view their personalized cards.  Please open, because we care about you, too!
